The approaching 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEV will go on sale at some point next year. We already saw the first spy photos of this impressive SUV. The images are showing a couple of updates. However, it seems like Grand Cherokee won’t introduce dramatic upgrades. Of course, the L variant is coming to the markets as well. For a good reason, we are mostly interested in the plug-in hybrid variant.
The Grand Cherokee PHEV or 4xe will be a game-changer for this model, no doubt about it. Thanks to that, we expect to see great performances and impressive fuel efficiency. Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know about the next Grand Cherokee.
2023 Grand Cherokee PHEV Spy Shots
The new 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEV was photographed testing a few weeks ago. The next model will include increased elegance and functionality. The video depicts a carefully camouflaged five-seat SUV, but the upright front end, distinctive seven-slot grille, bold bumper, and more modern headlights are all plainly identifiable.
At the rear, a strange-looking exhaust is seen. On the other hand, while the prototype is still a work in progress, the new Grand Cherokee is remarkably quiet. This indicates unequivocally that we are dealing with electricity. Jeep is keeping it simple. If you spot blue accents on a vehicle, it is the biggest indication that the model is using the 4xe hybrid system. Besides that, gasoline-powered and hybrid-powered variants are looking completely the same.
Interior Upgrades
Apart from the hybrid powertrain, the interior has been completely redesigned. The interior of the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEV will receive numerous upgrades. Additionally, there is a bigger L version occurring. In comparison to the two-row variant, the L model features three rows of seats and can seat up to seven passengers. The Laredo trim level should retain its fundamental characteristics. The Summit and Overland trim levels provide more opulent options such as leather upholstery, wood trim, and enhanced safety features.
On top of that, both models include a fresh 10.1-inch touchscreen mounted just above the dashboard. Furthermore, the Grand Cherokee PHEV comes standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The Limited trim level is available with a six-speaker stereo that can be upgraded to a nine-speaker Alpine audio system or a premium 19-speaker McIntosh system.
Power, Driving Range
The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEV is no longer a secret. Earlier this year, Jeep confirmed the SUV was in development and reassured buyers that the off-roader would not be too soft. He claimed that the hybrid is “as qualified” as the V8 variant but offers better fuel economy.
While the hybrid powertrain’s numbers are not yet public, we can look at the Wrangler 4xe’s 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. This is more than sufficient torque for the Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV. The Jeep Wrangler may travel up to 25 miles on pure electric power alone, while the Grand Cherokee’s range may be extended depending on battery capacity.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEV Price, Release Date
The price of the new forthcoming 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEV will start at around $41,000. The base model is available for $35,000, while the range-topping trim level costs $60,000. The price is not official yet and a new model will go on sale later next year.
