2023 Jeep Electric Crossover Revealed

Earlier this month, Jeep revealed its first all-electric vehicle. The 2023 Jeep Electric Crossover is not a surprise. However, we are surprised it’s not an electric Wrangler. Anyway, the battery-electric model will be a small crossover and it will go on sale next year. It resembles the Compass SUV, as the two models are having so much in common.

And while we have a couple of images, Stellantis refused to discuss the vehicle’s details, including its EV range or charging time. Stellantis plans to launch up to 25 EVs by 2030 in the U.S. Globally, this number goes up to 75. Electrification is the next important step in the brand’s history and Jeep will have to step up.

Jeep Electric Crossover Looks Like Compass

Jeep is playing it cool, as the new 2023 Jeep Electric Crossover looks subtle and modern. Whatsoever, this new model resembles a small Jeep Compass SUV. The front fascia comes with a signature seven-slot grille, but this time the grille is closed off. It also sports a tiny “e” badge. The headlamps are very modern and unique, while the taillights are finished in an in-set design.

Generally, the new crossover comes with a hatchback-like stance, but again, Jeep did it in a very subtle way. The wheel arches are larger than usual, so the production model will probably wear smaller units. Overall, we think the crossover is very modern, featuring a clean exterior design and sporty look.

Platform

The upcoming 2023 Jeep Electric Crossover will most likely sit on the same platform as the new Peugeot e-2008 and Alfa Romeo Brennero. It is a small STLA architecture, basically an upgraded version of the Peugeots’ EMP1 chassis. It also underpins some other models, but none of these models will have a dual-motor setup.

Still, Jeep will upgrade it, because a standard AWD system is essential. On the other hand, the base trim level could come with a single-motor configuration, while a dual-motor setup would be reserved for the range-topping trim levels.

Driving Range, Acceleration

This is a tough one, as we don’t know that much about the vehicle’s specs. The 2023 Jeep Electric Crossover will surely provide a lot of power, including both horsepower and torque ratings. However, more precise details will be revealed in the coming months. Interestingly, Stellantis made a presentation in 2021, where is said that the goal is to build a model with a driving range of 500 miles.

On top of that, the brand will try to provide an electric crossover that will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in only two seconds. Usually, the production model arrives with more realistic performance figures. Still, Jeep will surely deliver an impressive crossover in every possible way.
