The Dodge Challenger is a classic throwback to that era, not just because its overall mood is retro, but also because some versions are quite amusing. The base 2023 Dodge Challenger trim level comes with a V6 engine. It is a two-door muscle car with an AWD system and is also the most affordable variant you can get. The R/T model comes with a Hemi V8 engine producing 375 horsepower.
Moreover, a 6.4-liter V8 delivers 485 hp. Of course, the SRT variant provides more power, thanks to the supercharger. The Challenger is bulkier and less athletic than the Chevrolet Camaro or Ford Mustang. However, it rides more comfortably and has more spacious passenger accommodations. And, despite its subpar cabin materials and unsatisfactory manual transmission, the Challenger is still a cool coupe that frequently reminds its driver of a past era.
New 2023 Dodge Challenger comes with an interior that is reminiscent of a classic muscle car, with a clean design luxurious amenities. In comparison to its pony-car competitors, the Dodge has significantly more interior space, and adults can actually sit in the back seat. However, its rubberized materials are more reminiscent of old vinyl than luxury plastic, and the rear sight is inadequate.
While the Challenger’s wide front seats are comfy for cruising, even the optional bolstered seats do not embrace the occupants the way the Camaro or Mustang’s do. The Challenger features a sizable central console bin and a convenient location for a smartphone. Still, we don’t expect to see any sort of interior upgrades.
The forthcoming 2023 Dodge Challenger comes with numerous engine options. For starters, the base variant uses a familiar V6 gasoline engine with 305 horsepower. Moreover, this engine comes exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission. If you are looking for something wilder, the Hemi V8 gasoline engine is available as well. It is a 5.7-liter unit developing 375 horses.
However, a larger 6.4-liter V8 with 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque is perhaps the most popular choice. Lastly, there is always the famous Challenger SRT Hellcat variant. This model comes with a supercharger and it generates 807 horsepower. We don’t know yet if Dodge will tweak those figures.
Dodge Challenger vs Ford Mustang
As before, the 2023 Dodge Challenger will continue to rival models such as Chevy Camaro and Ford Mustang. And while the Challenger won’t arrive with significant upgrades, Mustang is a car that constantly improves. No matter what, both the Challenger and Mustang are providing a lot of power. We are talking about two similar models.
For an instance, both versions are offering plenty of power for a solid price. Challenger, on the other hand, comes with a standard AWD, a larger V8 engine, and a more spacious rear seat. Mustang provides a convertible option, more safety features, and the famous Shelby GT version. No matter what, both models are and will remain iconic American cars.
