Year after year, rumors about the “Cuda” model are present. In recent months, you could read a lot of speculations regarding the new 2023 Dodge Barracuda. The rumors are suggesting a two-door coupe variant so the Barracuda will slot below Dodge Challenger. Some other reports are suggesting a drop-top convertible version with a standard rear-wheel-drive system. Some things are making perfect sense. For an instance, FCA invested a lot of money in the famous Giorgio platform.
The same architecture underpins models such as Giulia and Stelvio. This platform provides world-class performances. Moreover, FCA plans to deploy this architecture in some other models and Barracuda is one of the candidates. The biggest issue with this muscle car is its fuel efficiency. While nothing is official yet, only time will tell us the truth.
Is 2023 Barracuda Comeback Possible?
The segment of passenger cars is shrinking. The world is turning towards SUVs, CUVs, and pickup trucks. However, many experts believe the 2023 Dodge Barracuda will manage very good sales. After all, Dodge Challenger is one fine example. The idea of a two-door coupe in the 2020s may sound crazy. On the other hand, Dodge sold 61,000 Challengers last year. That is almost four times more than in 2008.
We don’t say the coupe segment is growing, but Challenger is an iconic model, just like Barracuda. However, introducing another coupe means the sales will split between the new “Cuda” and the current Challenger. In our opinion, the new Barracuda won’t happen, but let’s hope we are wrong.
Convertible Rumors
Everything started in 2015 at the FCA dealer even in Las Vegas. The manufacturer showed its future vehicles, including Challenger ADR (later became SRT Demon) and Dodge Barracuda. The 2023 Dodge Barracuda could arrive as a two-door coupe or a drop-top convertible. Both variants are equally probable.
Interestingly, Dodge Viper was the last convertible model and its production ended in 2010. Moreover, the convertible variant of the Challenger model never happened, despite numerous speculations. As we said, we think Barracuda’s comeback won’t happen. However, these are the two most frequent rumors you should know about.
What About Performance?
FCA said the electrification is certainly the plan for the future. On top of that, the manufacturer said the supercharged V8 won’t be available for much longer. It is a 700-hp engine that provides astonishing performance. Yes, we’d like to see multiple high-performance coupes in the future. However, electrification is not the answer, as the Barracuda model is all about performance and loud noise.
Reliable sources are suggesting a new convertible Challenger model. The most likely outcome is that this convertible variant will be named “Barracuda.” This is a good way to bring the nameplate back, without giving this model the recognition of the Challenger.
2023 Dodge Barracuda – Conclusion
It seems like the Challenger model is a priority at the moment. Dodge will need to reinvent itself to boost sales. The 2023 Dodge Barracuda won’t happen in our opinion. However, we hope to see a new Challenger convertible that will be named Barracuda.
For the body style of the Challenger don’t change it. The SRT 392 should never went away it’s a solid package leather seats like the hell Cat is quality, On the Scat Pack change to better quality, should be the same as the SRT. The Charger two door would be great but ever Consider suicide doors? like the Saturn! would be a beautiful look and still easy to get in-out of the back. if the Cuda comes out do it Justice like the Challenger body style. BOTTOMLINE the interior should be a great impression with all leather. Just look at the SRT 2008 interior white/ blue SRT emblems and exterior back with the traditional Crome gas cap theses are sellers that o look at as well as I look at the quality of mustang. Chevy Camaro also the prices incentives
