Ram is about to release new heavy-duty chassis cab models. The 2022 Ram 4500 is on its way, and it will gain mild updates. More specifically, a complete lineup of commercial vehicles will gain the same upgrades. No spy shots on the horizon, but we think the exterior design won’t change at all.
Whatsoever, Ram tweaked the design of 4500 and 5500 models recently. On the other hand, the interior will introduce slightly more refreshments. The list of standard features is longer than ever before, and the manufacturer could also improve the level of comfort. The competition is stronger than ever before and Ram 4500 will once again try to beat the Ford F-450 model.
Ram 4500 Looks Surprisingly Modern
As we said, the 2022 Ram 4500 will introduce minor visual upgrades. This model is based on the Ram 1500 and the two models are similar in many ways. Of course, Ram 1500 is a less rugged variant with a more handsome look. Still, that won’t stop Ram 4500 to borrow a lot of stuff. Two years ago, the chassis has been modified and the design was heavily refreshed.
New model remains intact, which means the robust personality is unchanged. On the other hand, Ram will provide new tow hooks and a taller hood. The grille largely remains, but new optional wheels could be on the way. Overall, this model is no longer just a classic work truck, as its design is very modern and competitive.
The interior of the 2022 Ram 4500 is getting better and better. Clearly, the heavy-duty segment is growing, so every established manufacturer is trying to provide a modern cabin with a high level of comfort. The upcoming Ram 4500 is one fine example, as this model competes with another great model, Ford F-450.
Because of that, we expect to see additional improvements. Ram will deliver more upright materials, for a start. Moreover, an 8.4-inch touchscreen is standard, and the Uconnect infotainment system is up to date. Optionally, Ram offers an impressive 12-inch touchscreen, which is the largest display in the segment.
Gasoline and Diesel Engines Are on Offer
Under the hood, the forthcoming 2022 Ram 4500 will use the same 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine. With this engine, this truck is capable of towing 21,500 pounds. However, a 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel is the real deal. It is an optional powertrain that costs more, but Ram 4500 has 30,000 pounds of towing capacity when a diesel engine is under the hood.
Hemi V8 gasoline unit develops 370 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. As for the Cummins diesel, this output generates 325 horsepower and 800 lb-ft of torque. Ram could introduce an even higher level of torque in the near future, but this is not official.
2022 Ram 4500 Price, Release Date
The 2022 Ram 4500 will now cost above $40,000, which is a small jump in terms of price. This heavy-duty model is going on sale later this summer, along with the Ram 5500 variant. When comparing these two models, you’ll find that they’re very similar in terms of style and trim levels. This is due to the fact that the Ram 4500 and 5500 are basically the same model, with one small difference.
The primary distinction between the two is their trailering capacity and Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR). These two versions outperform the 3500 in all scores, and the 5500 outperforms the 4500 in these categories.
