The all-new 2022 Ram 3500 is ready for additional improvements. This a heavy-duty truck with impressive towing capacity. The most potent variant you can get is a combination of a diesel powertrain and a dual rear-wheel setup. New Ram 3500 will be the most efficient version so far, according to Ram. The manufacturer said the goal is to focus on the heavy-duty lineup more than before.
For that reason, we are expecting a lot of improvements. As before, this model will offer both gasoline and diesel engine options. According to reliable reports, Ram 3500 won’t get a complete redesign. Instead, the truck will arrive with mid-cycle improvements and the sales will start in the second half of 2021.
2022 Ram 3500 Performance
The forthcoming 2022 Ram 3500 comes with a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine. That means nothing will change under the bonnet and gasoline engine remains standard powertrain option. It generates 410 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque.
Ram feels this is more than enough power for the regular Ram 3500 truck. Interestingly, the same engine is available in FCA’s SUVs and it can produce 475 horsepower. However, the heavy-duty trucks won’t use stronger output. Lastly, the stories about possible Hellcat engine are pure speculations.
Diesel Specs, Towing Capacity
If you want the most powerful version of the 2022 Ram 3500, diesel is the only answer. A 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel engine can produce 400 hp. On top of that, this engine delivers up to 1000 lb-ft of torque.
A six-speed automatic transmission is available, with a standard RWD system. The AWD setup is optional and this truck will tow around 35,000 pounds. In order to achieve this rating, Ram 3500 has to be equipped with a dual rear-wheel configuration.
Trim Levels
For a start, new 2022 Ram 3500 will be available in a regular, crew cab and mega cab versions. On top of that, Ram offers both short-bed and long-bed setups. The base trim level is Tradesman. This version lacks a couple of features so we’d recommend you to skip this option. Laramie is a much better choice but this trim comes without a regular cab. On the other hand, it adds more standard equipment.
The Limited is the range-topping trim level and it this trim will get brand-new Night Edition. The base trim still offers a 5-inch touchscreen that looks outdated. Moreover, 17-inch rims are offered as standard. The Laramie trim will add heated seats and larger displays. The Longhorn variant is more luxurious with leather upholstery and a premium sound system. Limited is the best and the most expensive trim. It comes with a 12-inch touchscreen, additional safety equipment and 20-inch rims.
2022 Ram 3500 Release Date, Price
The approaching 2022 Ram 3500 will get a small jump in price. Thanks to that, a new model will cost almost $33,000. Three cab setups are available, along with numerous trim levels. The hybrid powertrain is not on the cards right now but we expect small improvements in terms of performances. Ram will release more details by the end of the year. The sales will begin in the second half of 2021.
Hi, I am a Ram owner and I am looking to order a 2022 Ram 3500 SRW high output Cummins, regular box. The sticky point after riding in friends GMC Sierra is that Dodge does not offer the option to split the heating on the seat like GM. I know after a long day I just want some relief on my back, either travelling or from work going home. I sent an email off to Stellantis and they got back to me. Generic communication..our company is always looking at how to better our vehicles. I just hope that someone takes it serious there, who want to sit on a hot seat in the summer. Also I have an after market dash cam front and back that records movement when the truck is parked.Wouldn’t it be nice with all the cameras the trucks have now if they offered this option to purchase.
