The upcoming 2022 Jeep Gladiator will continue with the improvements. This is the third year for the Gladiator pickup truck. This model got a diesel engine in 2021 so we believe the 2022 Gladiator will deliver a couple of surprises. And while it is still too early to speculate about it, we will focus on its performance and trim levels.
New Gladiator will remain a mid-size pickup truck with great off-road capability. However, some models are offering better off-road characteristics. Of course, the engine choice is equally important. Luckily, Gladiator is available in various configurations and it offers both gasoline and diesel powertrain options.
The all-new 2022 Jeep Gladiator comes with a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine. It is a familiar gasoline powertrain, available in numerous brand’s crossovers and SUVs. Potent V6 is capable of producing 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The power is sent to all four wheels and Gladiator offers both 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmission.
This engine manages 19 mpg combined. If you want a diesel engine, Sport, Overland, and Rubicon models are offering a 3.0-liter V6. This diesel output is rated at 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. Unlike gasoline, diesel is only available with 8-speed automatic transmission. Lastly, diesel delivers 25 mpg combined.
2022 Gladiator Trim Levels
One of the best things about the 2022 Jeep Gladiator is its trim levels and special editions. This pickup truck offers so many options so it is really hard to make the right choice. In our opinion, all Gladiator models are perfect. For a start, Gladiator Sport is a version that comes with 17-inch wheels and a soft-top sunroof. Moreover, this model offers various off-road equipment, standard 4WD, and underbody protection. However, a 5-inch infotainment display, manual windows locks, and cloth upholstery are putting Gladiator Sport below luxury trims.
The Overland trim level offers larger 18-inch alloy wheels and power windows. Moreover, heated mirrors tinted rear glass, and leather-wrapped steering wheel are all standard. Moreover, Overland comes with a larger 7-inch touchscreen. The next variant is the Gladiator Mojave. This is a Trail Rated pickup truck that adds unique Fox suspension, new fender flares, and all-terrain tires. Moreover, Mojave adds a wider track and electronic locking rear differential.
Lastly, Gladiator Rubicon is available and it is similar to the Mojave model. However, Rubicon will add electronically disconnecting anti-roll bar and special Rock-Trac part-time 4×4 setup with transfer case. Furthermore, a Selec-Speed control is available and it is basically the off-road version of the cruise control.
2022 Jeep Gladiator Price and Release Date
The approaching 2022 Jeep Gladiator will probably arrive at the same price. That means the base trim level will cost $33,500. On the other hand, Mojave and Rubicon models will both cost over $45,000. Jeep also offers plenty of optional equipment, such as automatic transmission or body-colored hardtop.
The biggest rival is not on the market yet. Ford is yet to release the Bronco Pickup Truck variant, which should happen later in 2021 or at the beginning of 2022. As for the 2022 Gladiator, this model will go on sale in the second half of 2021.
