The forthcoming 2022 Jeep Compass Plug-In Hybrid is coming to the dealerships later this year. A few days ago, Jeep revealed the latest updates ahead of Compass’s launch in Europe. The same updates will be applied on the US-spec Compass. Moreover, this model is also sold in China. As you can see, the plug-in hybrid powertrain is the biggest upgrade so far.
The current generation is present for four years, so we expect to see more updates than on the current model. Moreover, a three-row variant will also become available, but not as the 2022MY. The approaching model comes with a mid-cycle facelift and more dramatic interior upgrades. Here’s everything you need to know.
2022 Compass Plug-In Hybrid Design
The European variant of the 2022 Jeep Compass Plug-In Hybrid has been spied just last week. The Euro-spec Compass comes with the new and slimmer LED headlights, which is great. Moreover, Jeep will redesign the seven-slat grille as well. Unfortunately, heavy camouflage perfectly hides the rear part and its updates, if there are updates after all.
Even the side profile is a mystery, but we expect to see slightly sharper lines or even new optional wheels. It seems like we’ll just have to wait for the camouflage to come off. The plug-in hybrid variant will look exactly like the regular gasoline-powered Compass.
Interior Changes
As we said, changes on the inside are more dramatic. The 2022 Jeep Compass Plug-In Hybrid will host the same updates as the regular Compass SUV. For a start, Jeep will add more technology. Moreover, the dashboard comes with a new design and it hosts a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The customers can now choose between standard 8.4-inch and optional 10.1-inch touchscreen options.
The new infotainment system is significantly faster and it supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The manufacturer will also add a new steering wheel, additional storage places, and the latest driver assistance aids. That will include features such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and traffic sign recognition.
Compass 4xe Specs
The Compass SUV in the United States is powered by a 2.4-liter gasoline engine with 180 horsepower. It comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission or 9-speed automatic gearbox, depending on the chosen trim level. The 2022 Jeep Compass Plug-In Hybrid model is the highlight of the year. It will be called the “4xe”, like the Wrangler model with hybrid power. The Compass will use a smaller 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine in combination with a rear electric motor.
According to Jeep, the output develops between 190 and 240 horsepower. An 11.4-kWh battery is on offer and it will provide a shorter all-electric driving range, which means below 30 miles. The same powertrain can be found in the Renegade model, and like Renegade, Compass will offer different outputs in different parts of the world.

The price of the 2022 Jeep Compass Plug-In Hybrid will cost above $30,000. The base model starts at $26,000, so we are waiting for the official announcement. The Compass SUV will hit the dealerships in the United States, Europe, and China, later this year.
