The approaching 2021 Ram HD is ready for additional upgrades. This heavy-duty pickup truck lineup is getting better and better. Moreover, Chevy and Ford are also improving their trucks. It is the most competitive segment in the U.S. and every automaker is providing essential updates year after year. New spy shots are available and Ram HD will get a couple of interesting modifications.
As in the years before, HD lineup is looking closer to the Ram 1500 light-duty model. Thanks to that, Ram HD is looking more upright and modern. As for the interior, you can expect updates in the technology department. Under the bonnet, nothing significant will change but the hybrid powertrain is basically ready.
Ram HD Exterior Refreshments
Spy shots are showing us the latest upgrades on the 2021 Ram HD. Styling is slightly different and this truck will get mid-cycle refreshments. The rumors about total redesign were obviously false. Anyway, the spied prototype wears a modified grille and new headlights. The front bumper is more aggressive and Ram will introduce a new hood design.
Still, most of the design is perfectly hidden under heavy camouflage. As for the rear part, taillights are finished in different shape and new brake light looks more modern. To the sides, Ram HD won’t introduce any type of upgrades.
Interior Gets More Tech
The cabin of the all-new 2021 Ram HD will also go through mid-cycle improvements. First of all, this truck is getting more technology. Moreover, Ram will offer a longer list of standard amenities. Thanks to that, even the base trim level will look and feel more luxurious. Ram HD will get an updated infotainment system and newest phone integrations are available as well.
On top of that, the truck will be safer. The credit goes to new driver-assistance systems. As we already wrote, the heavy-duty lineup is looking closer to the Ram 1500 model. Design-wise, nothing will change. The cabin will remain roomy and practical as always before.
Engine Lineup is Unchanged
Under the bonnet, new 2021 Ram HD won’t get any changes at all. Its lineup of gasoline and diesel engines will largely remain. That means a 5.7-liter V8 is the standard unit that provides 385 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Optionally, you can buy a larger 6.4-liter Hemi V8. This engine can generate up to 410 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. Lastly, diesel engine, a 6.7-liter Cummins V8 delivers 370 horses and 930 lb-ft of twists.
As for the towing capacity, the gasoline engine is rated at 14,000 and diesel at 20,000 pounds. You can choose between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. A hybrid powertrain is in the works and it could be in the offer for 2021. Most likely, Ram HD will feature the same hybrid system as the light-duty Ram 1500 pickup.
2021 Ram HD Price and Release Date
The upcoming 2021 Ram HD will cost more, thanks to the latest mid-cycle refreshments. However, the price isn’t significantly higher, and the new model will cost around $32,000. Ram will release its complete heavy-duty lineup in the second half of 2020. Finally, upper trim levels will cost over $50,000.
