New 2021 Ram 2500, new spy shots, more upgrades. Ram will update its heavy-duty lineup. As in the previous years, the goal is to deliver a design closer to the look of the Ram 1500 model. Nothing new, whatsoever, Ford and Chevrolet are doing the same thing. The race for the best heavy-duty pickup continues.
Ford’s Super-Duty lineup is impressive, just like Chevrolet’s HD lineup. Competition is stronger each and every year. Manufacturers are opting for more often visual upgrades and hybrid powertrain is now a must. Let’s see what new Ram 2500 has to offer.
2021 Ram 2500 Exterior
The forthcoming 2021 Ram 2500 will now look closer to the Ram 1500 pickup. For that reason, we can expect a couple of serious visual changes. For the start, Ram 2500 will look more aggressive and stylish at the same time. The base model now offers more standard exterior and interior features. The more modern look is a must nowadays and Ram knows that. For that reason, a couple of modern touches will be offered.
After the latest spy shots, some things are clear as day. New Ram 2500 will get new headlights and its front fascia looks sharper. In the back, taillights will be modernized but the shape will remain. The side profile looks the same, but we can expect improvements on upper trims or new optional wheels. Grille was perfectly camouflaged which may suggest another significant upgrade on the front fascia.
Similar upgrades will happen from the inside. The all-new 2021 Ram 2500 will get numerous high-tech updates. It is the logical outcome and we are hardly surprised. However, heavy-duty pickup will get a longer list of standard amenities and a couple of new features. The infotainment system, displays, phone integrations, and graphics are all updated.
Ram 2500 will introduce new driver-assistance features as well. Design-wise, spy shots didn’t provide interior details of any kind. We believe the Mega Cab models will get better layout and more interior room this time. Overall, Ram will surely introduce better comfort, more tech, and better safety.
2021 Ram 2500 Powertrain
Unfortunately, the 2021 Ram 2500 will be a carryover in terms of performances. The new heavy-duty model will continue to offer the same engine options as its predecessor. Everything starts with a 5.7-liter V8. This engine is standard and it delivers 385 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Optional 6.4-liter Hemi V8 is also unchanged for 2021. The optional engine produces 410 horses and 430 lb-ft of torque. If you want to use your Ram 2500 for heavy-duty purpose than opt for the diesel powertrain.
A 6.7-liter Cummins is the most popular engine choice among the customers. Turbodiesel generates 370 horsepower and up to 930 lb-ft of torque. Just to compare, standard gasoline engine tows almost 14,000 pounds. On the other hand, the diesel engine is rated at over 20,000 pounds. Transmission is the same as well, both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes are available.
Price and Release Date
It is too early to discuss the price of the all-new 2021 Ram 2500. The 2020 model will start at $32,000. Knowing that the 2021 version will probably cost the same or slightly above that. As we already wrote, it is too early to guess or predict the price so changes in terms of pricing are possible. Ram’s newest heavy-duty model will hit the roads in the second half of 2020.
