The forthcoming 2021 Jeep Gladiator will hit the dealerships in the second half of 2020. The new model is about to hit the roads but fans are anticipating the 2021 model for one particular reason. A diesel powertrain.
That means the current Gladiator model has to offer only a gasoline engine. On the other hand, the diesel variant is certain for the future. Gladiator will remain the same pickup truck. After all, it is the newest Jeep’s model. Everything is still fresh and we can’t expect significant upgrades before 2023.
The 2021 Jeep Gladiator is a body-on-frame pickup truck. a four-door model Gladiator is Jeep Wrangler in a pickup truck form. It comes with 137-inch long wheelbase and aggressive appearance. However, Gladiator will arrive in a crew-cab variant only. Knowing that the first year of the production, or two, will provide only a four-door models. It isn’t a bad thing at all, but some fans are still hoping for the two-door variant.
Gladiator is easy to customize and it is a practical pickup. The credit goes to folding windshield and removable roof panels. Most of the styling cues are taken from the Wrangler SUV. Jeep will also offer a five-link rear suspension and a five-foot bad. Tailgate is very wide and practical. Finally, Gladiator offers three different roof configurations.
Inside the pickup truck you will see a lot of modern cues and high-quality materials. The 2021 Jeep Gladiator won’t get any major upgrades in the near future. The cabin is fresh and basically all-new. Gladiator will provide a room for five passengers. The interior room is generous and we like the amount of high-tech features. Still, standard 5-inch displays have to be improved.
We strongly recommend an optional 7-inch touchscreen. Gladiator offers optional Wi-Fi speakers and leather upholstery. On top of that, numerous driver-assistance systems are optional. Jeep also offers interesting lockable storages and roof panels.
2021 Gladiator Diesel
The all-new 2021 Jeep Gladiator will use the same engine as the Wrangler SUV. It is a reliable 3.6-liter V6 that powers most of the Jeep’s newest models. It can generate up to 285 horses and 260 lb-ft of torque. However, for 2021, Gladiator will get its first diesel powertrain. Whatsoever, many customers will skip the 2020 Gladiator only because of the diesel version.
A 3.0-liter six-cylinder will become available later next year. Diesel output cranks out 260 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. More torque will help 2021 Gladiator to tow 8,000 pounds. The customers can choose between a 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmission.
2021 Jeep Gladiator Price and Release Date
For the start, we are still waiting for the 2020 Gladiator to arrive. This model will cost $31,000. However, the 2021 Jeep Gladiator should cost the same as its predecessor. On the other hand, diesel version will start at $35,000 or slightly more.
The approaching Gladiator will hit the dealerships in the last quarter of 2020. There will be up to four trim levels and we are still hoping for some sort of high-performance variant.
