The forthcoming 2021 Jeep Gladiator Sport is a Wrangler-based pickup truck. Gladiator enters its second year of production, and it is available in numerous trim levels and special editions. Sport is just one of the trim levels, and it will get its first diesel option next year. It is the highlight of the 2021 Gladiator Sport. However, Jeep will deliver other updates that aren’t that major or significant. Gladiator is a perfect off-roading pickup truck, and diesel engine will improve that ability for sure.
On top of that, Gladiator Sport comes with great towing and hauling capabilities. It is a fun-to-drive model that looks more rugged than its Wrangler sibling. Sport is an affordable low-grade trim level that cannot be compared with Mojave or Rubicon variants. Still, the price is fair, and here’s what this model has to offer in 2021.
2021 Gladiator Sport Colors
New 2021 Jeep Gladiator Sport is available in numerous exterior colors. We must admit the color palette looks impressive, and there will be seven different exterior paints. For a start, Gladiator Sport offers the Billet Silver Metallic color.
On top of that, Bright White Clearcoat and Black Clearcoat colors are available. The list continues with the Firecracker Red Clearcoat and Hydro Blue. Lastly, the arriving pickup truck offers Sting-Gray Clearcoat and Granite Crystal Metallic colors.
Exterior and Interior Changes
The upcoming 2021 Jeep Gladiator Sport will introduce a couple of changes. However, we already said the changes are far from significant. A new pickup truck is available as a four-door model, which is disappointing. Many fans are hoping to see a two-door version in 2021, but that will not happen. Its 137-inch long-wheelbase remains, and Gladiator will remain as practical as before.
The only update is a slightly revised bodywork, and taillights seem to be slightly bigger than before. Removable roof panels and windshield are making Gladiator Sport a versatile pickup truck. The interior comes with an updated infotainment system and new driver-assistance aids. However, all of the latest safety systems are optional in the Gladiator Sport trim level.
Gladiator Gets Diesel Powertrain
New 2021 Jeep Gladiator Sport will get its first diesel engine. Whatsoever, Jeep expect better sales as plenty of buyers skipped the 2020 Gladiator because it offered only a gasoline powertrain option. A 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel is nothing new in Jeep’s portfolio, but it is finally here. This engine is capable of producing 260 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque.
Moreover, diesel will provide 29 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg in the city. It will also improve off-roading ability, along with the towing capacity. As for the standard engine, a 3.6-liter V6 remains intact. An eight-speed transmission is available once again, and the manual gearbox is still not on the cards.
2021 Jeep Gladiator Sport Release Date and Price
The price of the new 2021 Jeep Gladiator Sport starts at $36,500. The outgoing model comes with the same price, so there will be no changes. However, a diesel engine is new and optional.
It will cost you $4,000. Gladiator pickup truck will arrive later this year. We are still waiting for Ford to release its Bronco Pickup Truck, Gladiator’s archest enemy.
Has Jeep decided to make it available without that stupid push button start? I have read that Bronco can be had without it. I like a key that fits in my pocket and doesn’t cost $500.00. I also hate spending the thousands of extra dollars on unnecessary electronics just to start a car. They started fine for a hundred years before engineers started doing things just because they can, thereby driving up prices for stuff that is less reliable. I won’t buy another vehicle with that stupid system. Beyond the ridiculous unnecessary things, a diesel gladiator looks like a great vehicle. I really want one, but do not want it with that stuff. I have the money and want to buy, but when I asked their customer care department, they just “filed” it and would not take further comment. Make what we want and we will buy it.
