2021 Jeep Compass Could Get Some Sort of Electrification

FCA has big plans for the future. The manufacturer revealed the plan for Jeep’s lineup of crossovers and SUVs. Basically, every model will get some sort of electrification before 2022. The upcoming 2021 Jeep Compass will be one of the first models that will feature a hybrid drivetrain. Moreover, Compass could go all-electric in the near future.

No doubt, FCA will treat the Compass model as one of the most important vehicles in the Jeep’s rich lineup. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles also teased us with the Level Three Autonomy that will be present in new models. Unfortunately, we don’t know when will these significant upgrades happen. Visually, we don’t expect major changes to the new Compass model.

2021 Compass Exterior Refreshments

When it comes to exterior design, new 2021 Jeep Compass could get some sort of refreshments. However, we can’t bet on significant changes from the outside. Visually, Compass should remain the same. Only a couple of minor tweaks are the most realistic outcome. Unlike most of the Jeep’s crossovers and SUVs, Compass offers lower ground clearance. On top of that, most of the exterior features are borrowed from the Grand Cherokee model.

The base trim level looks very eye-catching and attractive. However, if you are looking for something more luxurious, higher trim levels are the answer. Some trim levels are looking sportier, while some others are more stylish or aggressive. Compass is a compact SUV that is very customizable. A two-tone roof is optional and it looks superb. Shiny chrome trims and attractive wheels are available in numerous choices.

Interior Updates

Interior is a mystery for now, for various reasons. For the start, Jeep mentioned a Level Three Autonomy system. It is a huge step for every automaker. However, Jeep has plans to deliver this system until 2022. Knowing that the 2021 Jeep Compass could easily become the first company’s model with Level Three Autonomy. Besides that, we can surely expect minor tech updates.

That includes a new infotainment system and innovations in terms of safety. Compass will get more driver-assistance features. One thing will surely remain, a five-seat interior layout. Moreover, even the layout of the controls should stay intact. Rear occupants will have 38.3 inches for their legs and cargo area is rated at 27. Cubic feet. Maximum cargo capacity is rated at 60 cubics.

No matter what happens in the near future, this unit will be available for sure. It delivers 180 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, it comes with a front-wheel-drive system and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel-drive setup is optional once again. On top of that, a 9-speed automatic gearbox is optional too. This engine delivers good fuel economy figures, 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. Compass can tow up to 2,000 pounds.

Still, we don’t know which type of powertrain Compass will get.
