The forthcoming 2021 Jeep Cherokee will hit the dealerships next year. This SUV will offer some great innovations. For the first time, Cherokee will offer three rows of seats. Jeep will build this model in Detroit and it plans to use Mack Avenue Engine II plant. Cherokee is already known for its attractive and unique design.
The new model will get further upgrades when it comes to design and styling. Even the interior will see additional changes, besides the new three-row configuration. The 2021 Cherokee will ride on the current engine lineup. There won’t be changes under the hood and trim levels will stay intact. Of course, Trackhawk variant with 700+ horsepower will be ready at some point next year.
2021 Jeep Cherokee Updates, Changes
The 2021 Jeep Cherokee will get some serious changes. According to the latest reports, the 2021 model will start the new generation. Interestingly, the current generation of Cherokee is present for eight years. Everything makes sense now. With the moving of production and new three-row layout, this SUV will be the next-gen model.
Cherokee will surely arrive with the same dimensions. Design language will remain as well. However, we can expect new styling and new exterior features. That includes brand-new headlights and new 17-inch wheels. Cherokee will keep its ground clearance and upper trim levels will look exclusive. This SUV looks unique and Jeep will offer new rear fascia. However, there is no official confirmation yet.
At least one drastic change will happen from the inside. The 2021 Jeep Cherokee will get the third row of seats. The fifth-gen Cherokee will surely get further interior changes. But for now, the only certain change is the new third-row. It is a big change so Jeep will have to completely change the layout. Of course, legroom will be different now.
Mentioned third-row will probably be tight for the adults. However, Jeep is adding the versatility with this upgrade. Surely, the goal is to attract more families into buying it. Interior will introduce new upholstery and new high-tech features. Jeep will still offer a two-row variant so the customers can choose the interior configuration.
2021 Jeep Cherokee Engine
Jeep won’t offer any mechanical changes. That means the 2021 Jeep Cherokee, will ride on the same engine lineup. However, it isn’t a bad thing at all as there will be five engine choices. There will be seven trim levels so almost each trim level comes with a specific engine. For the start, a 3.6-liter V6 comes as standard. This unit is producing 295 HP and 260 lb-ft of torque.
A larger 5.7-liter V8 generates 360 HP and 390 lb-ft of torque. A 3.0-liter diesel engine is optional as well and it provides 240 HP and 420 lb-ft of torque. SRT trim offers a 6.4-liter V8 that cranks out 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. Finally, a Cherokee Trackhawk variant comes with a powerful 6.2-liter V8. This turbocharged unit returns incredible 707 horses and 645 lb-ft of torque.
