It seems like the 2020 Grand Caravan will survive a possible discount, at least for now. What about the 2021 Dodge Grand Caravan? This van will be killed in the near future. First reports suggested the 2019 model to be the last version. However, now it seems like the 2020 variant is waiting for the same destiny.
New reports are saying that this van will continue its life outside of the U.S. There are so many rumors at the moment. One thing is sure, the upcoming model won’t get any changes, and it will be a carryover.
Chrysler Voyager is Coming
At the beginning of summer 2019, Chrysler announced its all-new “Voyager” van. It is an alternative and more affordable version of the Chrysler Pacifica minivan. The Voyager will go on sale in the United States next year. On top of that, Canada will get this model shortly as well. How is this important? Well, Dodge plans to kill the 2021 Dodge Grand Caravan.
Voyager is just a confirmation that this will happen very soon. However, many sources are saying the 2021 model will be sold as Chrysler Grand Caravan in the future. On top of that, this model will also become available in Canada. FCA confirmed that the van would stop with the production, but the official date has not been set.
Grand Caravan Changes
FCA will follow Ford’s path. Blue Oval has a plan to kill everything that isn’t a crossover, SUV or a pickup truck. Cars and minivans are slowly losing the battle with more dominant models. For that reason, the last year of the Grand Caravan won’t provide any changes. The 2021 Dodge Grand Caravan will be a complete carryover. This model looks very sharp and modern. Front fascia hosts large headlights that are available in LED technology. Fog lights are relatively new, and the front grille wears beautiful chrome details. However, all of this stuff will remain, including the 20-inch alloy wheels.
The same story continues from the inside. There will be room for seven persons. The interior layout is impressive, and the cabin looks modern. Upper trim levels are providing real luxury. For that reason, 2021 Grand Caravan is perfect for longer trips and larger families. Comfort is truly exceptional and the use of high-quality materials is impressive. Unfortunately, this van will only get a couple of technology updates.
The Performance
Once again, only a 3.6-liter V6 engine is available under the hood. The 2021 Dodge Grand Caravan is a carryover in the mechanical terms too. The Pentastar V6 produces 284 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The ride is comfortable, and handling is pleasing.
Fuel economy is rated at 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. A 6-speed automatic transmission remains once again. We strongly recommend the optional 4WD system that will drop the fuel efficiency, but not significantly.
2021 Dodge Grand Caravan Price and Release Date
The approaching 2021 Dodge Grand Caravan will retain its price of $27,500. This minivan will enter its last year of production. After that, it will arrive under Chrysler’s badge in Canada. Interestingly, Grand Caravan managed to sell more units than Chrysler Pacifica in the last two years.
So, if you are from Canada and Grand Caravan is your favorite, wait for a while. In the United States, this minivan will hit the markets at some point in 2020.
