2021 Dakota Will Look Modern
To this day, we saw numerous renderings but that’s about it. The 2021 Dodge Dakota will surely borrow a lot of styling cues and exterior features from the Ram 1500 model. Moreover, some things could be taken from the Jeep Gladiator pickup truck. Some reports are predicting a perfect combination of Dakota’s old-school design and Ram’s new design language.
Without any doubt, the new Dakota will surely look modern and upright. Its appearance won’t be that unique but it will be a model that will wear a recognizable design. Dakota will arrive as a body-on-frame pickup truck and that’s all the info we have at the moment.
Interior Based on the Ram 1500
New 2021 Dodge Dakota will definitely look closer to Ram 1500 in terms of interior design. The exterior could borrow a couple of things from the Jeep Gladiator. However, the interior is definitely Ram-like. On the other hand, Dakota won’t offer a luxurious cabin as the famous Ram 1500 model. Instead, Dakota will represent a more affordable option in the mid-size segment.
Of course, the cabin will be modern enough and comfort will be good. For an instance, Dodge Dakota will offer a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, heated/ventilated seats, and wireless charging. Those amenities will be available in the upper trim levels. A crew cab configuration is reportedly in the works and possibly another smaller extended cab.
Familiar V6 Gasoline Engine
This is a no brainer as the 2021 Dodge Dakota will surely deploy a 3.6-liter V6. This engine is used across FCA’s lineup and we can confirm the V8 engine is not on the cards. Dodge will probably deliver an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard rear-wheel-drive system. Another possibility is a 3.0-liter V6 diesel powertrain with 260 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque.
Interestingly, Gladiator pickup made its debut without this diesel engine, but the 2021 Gladiator will get one. Trim levels are hard to predict, especially high-performance editions such as the Rebel variant. Dodge will release more details in the coming weeks.

The forthcoming 2021 Dodge Dakota is a new model so its price is not available yet. However, the idea is to offer Dakota as an affordable option in the mid-size pickup segment.
