If the rumors are true, Barracuda is coming back in 2020. Those rumors are present for a long time. However, reliable reports are suggesting the 2021 Dodge Barracuda as a certain thing. It seems like the game of the old school muscle cars is making a comeback. Plenty of the established carmakers are reviving their iconic models. And what game we play if there is no “Cuda”. We are not talking about Need For Speed or any other racing game, but what difference does it make?
Barracuda model is a truly loved muscle car that delivers power and speed. Unfortunately, new 2021 Barracuda won’t look no way near the older model from the 90s. Dodge will introduce plenty of lightweight materials and modern aerodynamics. For that reason, the old school vibe is gone. However, “Cuda” will look upscale and eye-pleasing. The interior will get premium upholstery and latest features.
2021 Dodge Barracuda Design Looks Modern
For the start, the 2021 Dodge Barracuda will be dimensionally smaller than its predecessor. Plenty of styling cues are borrowed from the Dodge Challenger model. On the other hand, aerodynamics are astonishing. Overall, exterior design looks modern and in line with the rest of the competition. The iconic look is gone and “Cuda” is ready for the next chapter.
Dodge will most likely deploy new chassis and new suspension. The suspension will get new magnetic dampers. We can expect a rear-axle configuration. New Barracuda will get plenty of aluminum and lightweight materials. It means this model will be lighter than its predecessor, significantly. Dodge’s game of muscles looks quite impressive.
Interior use cues from the Challenger model
New Barracuda will also borrow plenty of styling cues from the Challenger model. Design is very similar and some parts are completely the same. Even the cabin layout is almost identical. The new infotainment system comes with a standard 8.4-inch touchscreen. This system supports integrations such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The 2021 Dodge Barracuda will get plenty of standard features and leather upholstery. Satellite navigation, Wi-Fi and similar features will be optional. Safety rating will be great. Whatsoever, Dodge will most likely offer different sort of safety packages.
2021 Dodge Barracuda Powertrain
Here is the interesting part. The 2021 Dodge Barracuda will not arrive with the iconic Hemi V8 engine. Because of its smaller dimensions and lighter chassis, “Cuda” will arrive with a different type of engine. While Dodge remains silent, we think there will be a couple of interesting options. For the start, the turbocharged V6 engine is the most likely candidate.
A 2.4-liter four-cylinder Tigershark will surely deliver an astonishing amount of power. A 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is another interesting outcome. Thanks to the turbochargers, both engines will produce at least 600 horsepower. All-wheel-drive will be optional and we can expect both manual and automatic transmission.
Price and Release Date
The price of the 2021 Dodge Barracuda is still a mystery. Of course, the price of a muscle car with a new chassis and modern aerodynamics won’t come cheap. We predict the price to start at around $75,000.
Another mystery is the SRT model. If the Barracuda SRT arrives, expect the price above $90,000. This muscle car will make a comeback in the first quarter of 2020.
