Around the same time when Jeep release a plug-in hybrid Wrangler, the carmaker will also bring out the 2020 Jeep Renegade PHEV. The model will enter the production in Fiat Chrysler’s Melfi plant, in Italy. The same plant is also producing new Fiat 500X. One thing is certain, Renegade PHEV will arrive in both Europe and North America.
Jeep released its five-year plan where the automotive giant will introduce new SUVs and deliver numerous hybrid and all-electric models. The 2020 Renegade PHEV is also part of this plan and it will arrive as a front-wheel-drive model.
2020 Jeep Renegade PHEV Combines Modern Styling With The Traditional Exterior Design
The all-new 2020 Jeep Renegade PHEV will not depart from the original model in terms of design. The subcompact SUV will deploy a platform with the front-wheel-drive configuration that can accommodate a rear-mounted electric motor. Up front, a vertical seven-slot grille remains and the short overhangs are typical Jeep’s styling cue. Of course, rounded headlights are perhaps the highlight of this gorgeous design. No doubt, Renegade is the true Jeep in terms of design and styling.
American carmaker perfectly combines modern styling with the traditional exterior design. Some parts are looking way too retro, but uniqueness won’t lack at all. It is an interesting appearance with the 16-inch wheels, My Sky removable-roof, and new fog lights.
2020 Jeep Renegade PHEV Interior Offers Plenty Of Modern Features
The forthcoming 2020 Jeep Renegade PHEV comes with the same interior as the base gasoline model. There will be room for five passengers and the cargo area is generous for such a compact model. There will be 19 cubic feet of space and up to 50 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat. Practicality at its best, as the front passenger’s seat, can be also folded in order to store longer items.
Comfort is more than good and the cabin is equipped with plenty of modern features. If you want real luxury, you just have to opt for some optional features and amenities, such as leather seats or heated steering wheel. Beats audio system is also optional. Safety rating will be even better now as Jeep will introduce some new safety and driver-assistance features.
2020 Jeep Renegade PHEV Engine Specs
Current Renegade model comes with the 1.4-liter four-cylinder turbo and 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. The standard engine delivers 160 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. The optional unit can produce up to 180 horses and 175 lb-ft of torque. Now, the 2020 Jeep Renegade PHEV will hit the markets with improved performances and mileage.
The new model will most likely combine a rear-mounted electric motor with one of those two units. Total output will be rated at over 200 horsepower, no doubt about it. You can forget about the 27 mpg combined as the Renegade PHEV will deliver astonishing mileage.
