2020 Jeep Grand Commander to Be Chrysler-Badged

Jeep is surprising us each and every year. According to the latest rumors from reliable sources is that the 2020 Jeep Grand Commander will arrive under Chrysler’s badge. This move draws so many questions. Our first question would be “What will happen to Dodge Journey?”. Newest speculations are saying the China-market Grand Commander will arrive in the U.S. as a Chrysler.

The three-row crossover SUV is a great seller in China but it will hardly survive tough American market. At least the road-focused model would face a tough task, and that is the reason why is it moved to China at first place. No matter what happens in the future, the 2020 Grand Commander will continue to use a Pentastar engine but a turbocharged four-cylinder engine could also be in the offer.

2020 Jeep Grand Commander Is More Longer Than The Grand Cherokee

The 2020 Jeep Grand Commander will be 192-inch long crossover SUV. That is ten inches longer than the current Jeep Cherokee and only 2.2-inches longer than the Grand Cherokee. With almost the same styling and design, Grand Commander is basically the stretched version of Cherokee. It will host the familiar Jeep’s look with a boxy shape and unique glasshouse. Up front, the seven-slot grille is available as standard and plenty of chrome accents are visible.

The appearance is very upscale and styling is modern. Interestingly, new Grand Commander was spotted on the Michigan streets. Camouflage failed to hide most of the exterior, but the point is proven. Commander is coming back to the U.S. Now only the time will tell us if this crossover SUV will arrive under Chrysler’s badge or not.

2020 Jeep Grand Commander Interior Is Very Comfortable

The three-row crossover will offer room for seven passengers. The cabin looks modern and comfort is guaranteed. Interior of the 2020 Jeep Grand Commander will offer a modern dash, along with the smaller touchscreen unit. The analog instrument cluster looks beautiful and we like the wood trims that are all over the interior. Jeep didn’t pay too much attention to the third row but that will change now.

The 2020 model will now offer very comfortable and upscale third-row. For that reason, three-zone independent air conditioning comes as standard. The interior is similar to the Grand Cherokee and some of the features are exactly the same. That includes A/C vents, the center stack, and the infotainment display.

2020 Jeep Grand Commander Powertrain

Grand Commander in China is using the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The same unit can be found under the Wrangler’s hood and it is producing 264 horses and 295 lb-ft of torque. However, the 2020 Grand Commander will use a slightly detuned output that offers 230 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.

This drivetrain comes with the 9-speed automatic transmission, standard front-wheel-drive system, and optional all-wheel-drive setup. However, 230 hp doesn’t sound like too much power for a vehicle of this size. For that reason, FCA will offer a 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar unit that is present in all of the Jeep’s new models. The V6 engine will be available on the American soil only.
