Jeep is releasing its first truck. Jeep Gladiator is about to arrive and it will offer great performance. Whatsoever, numerous trim levels are in the offer. The 2020 Jeep Gladiator Overland will be an interesting model for various reasons.
Unfortunately, Gladiator is one of the most expensive models in the mid-size truck segment. Moreover, the Overland trim level is even more expensive. However, this trim level comes with plenty of premium features and it looks better. Furthermore, this trim offers better performances.
2020 Jeep Gladiator Overland Is Based On The Wrangler SUV
Basically, Gladiator is a pickup truck that looks like the Wrangler SUV. However, transforming Wrangler into a pickup truck isn’t easy. For that reason, some parts of the exterior are different than on the SUV model. The 2020 Jeep Gladiator Overland looks very upscale and aggressive. The longer wheelbase is available, along with the two-box and three-box design. Four-door configuration is however still available. Overland trim offers body-colored features, such as bumpers and wheel arches.
The design looks unique, especially with the 18-inch wheels. Loading a couple of optional features will equal this trim with the Sahara model. However, the price is much more affordable.
Interior Offers an Impressive Level of Comfort
The upcoming 2020 Jeep Gladiator Overland comes with an impressive level of comfort. Second-row is usable thanks to the four-door body. Moreover, this pickup offers better comfort than the regular Wrangler SUV. A five-foot-long bed is, unfortunately, the only bed option. Moreover, this bed doesn’t offer such a great volume. As for the technology, Overland trim is offering a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen. Optional 8-inch unit is more recommendable.
Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, dual-zone climate control and power windows are all standard. Optionally, heated front seats and heated steering wheel are in the offer. Moreover, Trail Rail cargo management system is optional and it improves tow rating. We hoped for a safety rating to be better. If you want a complete Active Safety Group you have to pay almost $2,000.
As every Jeep’s new model, a 3.6-liter V6 is the standard engine. This unit is offering a 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic gearbox. It can produce 285 HP and 260 lb-ft of torque. Ride quality is better thanks to the stretched wheelbase. The ride is comfortable and transmission and handling are superb. On top of that, this pickup comes with great stability.
Trailer Towing Package is optional. With this package, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator Overland tows 7,650 pounds. This tow rating is slightly better than towing capacity of Ford Ranger and Chevrolet Colorado. Fuel economy provides 17 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. Even if you equip your Gladiator Overland with a four-wheel-drive system, fuel economy is still in line with the competition.
2020 Jeep Gladiator Overland Price and Release Date
As we already mentioned, Gladiator is one of the most expensive models in the mid-size truck segment. The price of the base model starts at $33,500. The 2020 Jeep Gladiator Overland adds $7,000 to the base price. That means new Overland will be priced at $40,000. However, this pickup offers more quality than the base model. The all-new Jeep’s pickup truck will hit the dealerships in the last quarter of 2019.
