The upcoming Durango will arrive in eight trim levels. Everything starts with the SXT trim and finishes with the range-topping SRT model. Between them, the mid-range trim level looks to be the most affordable option. The 2020 Dodge Durango Citadel slots perfectly between the SXT and SRT models. It is not a premium trim level but it is drastically better-equipped than the base model.
Citadel comes with plenty of optional packages, numerous exterior paints, and two powertrain options. Durango Citadel also offers one of the best-in-class towing abilities. Overall, a perfect SUV that is still shy from the luxury level.
2020 Dodge Durango Citadel Looks Sportier
New 2020 Dodge Durango Citadel will suffer some minor upgrades. Dodge perfectly mixes an aggressive look with clean design and sporty stance. Up front, HID headlights are standard and relatively fresh. For that reason, headlights are intact. Large crosshair grille is also unchanged, just like the tailgate in the back.
LED headlights are optional, along with the 20-inch polished aluminum wheels. Auto high-beam headlamps are a standard feature. You can also opt for the rain-sensing windshield wipers. Citadel will not dimensionally depart from the rest of the trim levels. It is still the tallest and longest mid-size SUV in the segment.
Exterior Colors and Packages
The upcoming 2020 Dodge Durango Citadel surely looks better than the base trim level. However, you can equip this mid-range trim with plenty of optional packages. Citadel offers numerous appearance packages, such as Mopar Chrome, Mopar Running Board and Anodized Platinum appearance package. Thanks to these optional packages, you can get numerous premium and sporty. That includes plenty of platinum and chrome accents. On top of that, roof bars, unique door sills, and numerous badges are available. Of course, Technology Group comes with larger displays and plenty of safety aids.
As for the exterior colors, Durango Citadel offers nine of them. DB Black comes as standard exterior paint. Three gray colors are in the offer, Granite, Destroyer Grey, and Billet. Reactor Blue, In-Violet, Vice White, Octane Red, and White Knuckle are available too.
Engine Specs
What we like about the Durango SUV is its engine lineup. There will be two engine options. Just like the base model, the 2020 Dodge Durango Citadel rides on a standard 3.6-liter V6. This output delivers 293 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.
Standard powertrain offers a smooth ride and great fuel economy numbers. However, if you want more power, optional 5.7-liter V8 is the answer. This V8 cranks out 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. Of course, this engine is still not even close SRT’s 6.4-liter V8. However, for the mid-range, this is more than enough power. All engines are available with 8-speed automatic transmission.
2020 Dodge Durango Citadel Price and Release Date
The base Durango model is priced at $30,000. However, the mid-range trim 2020 Dodge Durango Citadel starts at $43,500. New Durango comes with minor changes and updates so the price will largely remain. This mid-size SUV will go on sale in the last quarter of 2019.
