The forthcoming 2020 Chrysler Pacifica arrives next year and it brings noticeable changes and upgrades. Pacifica is already one of the most reliable and best-looking minivans on the market and this model should get significant improvements. The exterior is looking attractive and the interior looks subtle, stylish and modern. This minivan can accommodate seven passengers, and some version up to eight. The upcoming Pacifica will arrive with two engine choices, among them a hybrid variant.
The 2020 Chrysler Pacifica will once again offer numerous trim levels and this is one of the most practical models in the segment for sure. However, the most significant change could be shocking to most of the readers. According to Fiat-Chrysler CEO, Sergio Marchionne, new Pacifica could arrive as a crossover. While nothing is official yet, a Pacifica-based crossover makes more sense than anything else.
2020 Chrysler Pacifica changes and updates
The all-new 2020 Chrysler Pacifica won’t depart from the current model at all. However, the new model will get a lot of changes and updates. The aerodynamics are improved and the new model now gets a 20-inch alloy wheel as an optional part of the equipment. New tires are in the offer and both front and rear bumpers are larger than before. The overall minivan’s dimensions will stay intact, however, the new model will be lighter than its predecessor. More aluminum bodywork and additional carbon fiber materials are the main reason for this improvement. The front part will also get thinner headlight units and the grille will be slightly longer.
At the back, new exhaust pipes are clearly visible and more chrome accents are visible, even from the distance. Moreover, you can now find more piano black accents than before. The LED headlights are standard, just like the LED daytime running lights. New Pacifica offers a long list of available exterior colors as well. A Billet Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Velvet Red, Tusk White, Jazz Blue, Dark Cordovan, Granite Crystal Metallic and Black Crystal are just some of the available colors. If you opt for a hybrid variant, a Silver Teal Pearl is the standard exterior paint.
2020 Chrysler Pacifica interior keeps the same attractiveness
Just like the current model, the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica will remain practical and simple minivan from the inside. The overall interior design is very attractive and modern. The layout is astonishing and there is plenty of room in the cabin. However, the layout is now slightly different but the seven-seater configuration will remain. The gasoline models are even offering an eight-passenger layout. All three rows are comfortable and spacious. The infotainment system is updated and a rearview camera is standard now. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will remain optional, unfortunately. More driver assistance features are in the offer, which includes adaptive cruise control and traction control.
Safety rating will see a slight increase, thanks to the additional airbags. The interior is very modern and is clearly based on the Pacifica 200 sedan. The cabin is very practical and the Stow ‘n Go system for the seats will remain. By pressing the button, the power-adjustable front seats will slide forward in order to allow more space to the second-row occupants. Some premium amenities are still optional, like leather seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Even the Uconnect Theater system is available and it is optional. This system adds two 10-inch touchscreens at the rear.
2020 Chrysler Pacifica powertrain
This minivan still offers two drivetrain choices, besides the speculated third engine that is still under a question mark. Knowing that the standard engine is still the same. A 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that generates 287 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque.
The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is rated at 22 mpg combined. With the V6 unit, the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica reaches from 0 to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds. Besides the standard V6, new Pacifica offers a hybrid drivetrain as well.
2020 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid system
The hybrid system is combining the 3.6-liter V6 with the pair of electric motors. A 16-kWh lithium-ion battery pack is in the offer too. This combination provides almost 300 horses and Pacifica Hybrid offers 84 MPGe.
On top of that, the full driving range is set at 565 miles and all-electric range at 33 miles. Both drivetrains are available with the standard front-wheel-drive configuration. The all-wheel-drive setup is optional.
2020 Chrysler Pacifica price and release date
The 2020 Chrysler Pacifica comes in five different trim levels. The base model starts at $29,500. Touring trim is priced at $31,500 and Touring L at $35,500. Touring L Plus costs $39,000 and range-topping Pacifica Limited $43,500. The biggest Pacifica’s rivals are Honda Odyssey and Kia Sedona. New Pacifica will arrive later in 2019 as the 2020 model. The Pacifica-based crossover is still a possibility but the minivan will remain one of the company’s best-selling models for sure.
