Not every SUV and crossover spotted on the roads can match the iconic Jeep Wrangler in legacy and off-road prowess beyond any doubt. The midsized off-road centric SUV has been a favorite with the buyers since its debut back in 1986. Over the years, the Wrangler lineup has been spruced up by the company in many ways. The 2019 Jeep Wrangler is now ready to hit the roads and it may get the new hybrid engine.
The 2019 lineup comes with some design changes, boost in engine performance and amenities. The new model is way better than the predecessor and minor glitches have been ironed out. However, its performance has not been compromised at all.
2019 Jeep Wrangler has the same Retro Design
The 2019 Jeep Wrangler looks much like the predecessor but on second glance, you will be able to trace the subtle styling changes. The JL series which replaces the JK lineup is more aerodynamic and the shape is more rugged and stylish. The angle of the windshield is a tad different and the typical Jeep styling cues like the grille and round headlights are there.
One can buy it with either hard or soft top. Removing the tops is, however, easier than what it used to be. The LED headlights are optional for Rubicon and Sahara trims. You can buy the models in 2 or 4 door setups. The cabin has also received its share of changes. Barring the base trim- all trims get upscale materials inside and the Rubicon excels on this front.
In terms of safety technologies and amenities, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler scores really well. The 8.4-inch touch display unit which is there to control new Uconnect infotainment setup is amazingly good. The touch response is fluid and it is easy to learn too. The airbags are there and a new safety suite is available. It has parking sensors, backup camera, and blind spot detection. However, you do not get autonomous braking by default.
2019 Jeep Wrangler Engine Offers
There are two engines available for the 2019 Jeep Wrangler but later FCA may offer 2 more engine types later. The 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 unit generates an output of 285 HP. The company sources indicate that a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 turbocharged engine will be offered later. There are both manual and automatic transmission gearboxes for these engines.
The new lineup offers much better ride quality on all terrains. The ride over urban roads is decent and off-road prowess is as good as ever. The Sahara trim offers a more balanced ride and the Rubicon is the champion crawler. It comes with a BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires and heavy-duty Dana axles to tame all terrains with ease. The Sahara trim gets a four-wheel-drive mode which is easy and effective.
Like the current one model, the new 2019 Jeep Wrangler comes with towing capacity that stands at 3500 pounds max.
2019 Jeep Wrangler Hybrid model
There is also a rumor that this 2019 Jeep Wrangler will get the hybrid variant of the engine. However, some speculation is that will have under the hood 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a mild hybrid setup as well. Also, the eTorque technology will be present in this model. As for the maximum output, it is expected to make 270 HP and 295 lb ft of torque.
The Stop/start technology is also included in this model and we expect significant improvements in efficiency. Like the standard version, hybrid one will be offered with a six-speed manual gearbox or eight-speed automatic as an option.
2019 Jeep Wrangler Price and Availability
The 2019 Jeep Wrangler cost more than the predecessor. The base trim price starts at approx $28,190. Top Rubicon trim will cost you around $41,690. It is going to reach showrooms by late 2018.
However, there is no info and confirmation about the price of the hybrid one. The main rivals will be off-roaders Toyota Tacoma TRD-Pro or Chevrolet Colorado ZR2.
